The unalome represents a path of healing. One of the beautiful concepts about it is that everyone’s symbol is different, and a reflection of one’s personal experiences. The symbol is drawn with three parts: origin, wandering, and the path.

The origin displays one’s expanding awareness and consciousness while being brought up by their family members. The wandering visually depicts one’s veering away from what they have been taught, and their exploration of other beliefs (or alterations of the family’s beliefs). This exploration process moves one forward, but does not completely capture what one is looking for, so the progress winds and twists as it gets closer and closer to the path. The path represents one’s own understanding of their purpose and the uncovering of authentically who they really are . A dot at the end represents the continuation of one’s path living their life more authentically.
